Hon. Colonial Secretary,

All doubts as to the rights of aliens to hold lande or other immovable property situated in this Colony were removed by the Aliens (Rights of Property) Ordinance,

1853.

In the case of a foreign corporation certain

formalities must be complied with and the consent of the

Governor-in-Council must be obtained. (Section 253 of

Ordinance 58 of 1911.)

The Alien Enemies (Winding up) Ordinances and the Trading with the Enemy Ordinances affected lands and other immovable property in the Colony held by or for the

subject of a state for the time being at war with His Majesty and the rights of such enemies to hold landa; but the Ordinances themselves recognise the existence of the

rights of aliens above referred to.

17th June, 1922.

(Sd.) H. K. Holmes,

Crown Solicitor.
